Dirty Day, Angry discussion, Sadness

He's old, and it hurts. There will be, there must be, more adversity (that I don't want),  but hopefully success.  There will be more embarrassment, but some will understand.   There will be misunderstanding, but they are the ones who are clueless.  It would be nice if they looked at a song. A song they hadn't heard before, but may like. They would probably like the lyrics I don't use. From my favorite year, 1993, U2 made  the CD Zooropa, there's a meaningful song, not the best one, on the album (that's " For the First Time (I Feel Love) "). The song is  DIRTY DAY .   The link provides the song. "...you don't know the half of it" You dismiss Chicago, particularly its ghettos while ignoring that most of the people work, work hard. It's not all about selling drugs or gang shootings. People work, people suffer, a disproportionate number of minorities died from COVID as you stayed healthy.  Do you even know what I do to help them? Wil...

postponing the main story & wrapping it up for awhile

Image
The main story about Dan the driving instructor has, and will be, postponed.   There was a time a couple years ago when I was underemployed. In this same period, I began this blog.  But, I wouldn't spend time writing, here, at this blog, b/c of guilt.   How can I write a blog when I need to find another, better job?  You can't write if you need to pay bills better than you do!  So, I didn't write I found the job.  I work full time. It provides benefits and pays better than when I was a paralegal.  So now I can write.

it all starts at the TOP w/ BOSS ALVIN

Like many people in their respective workplaces, the tone of Dan Driver's workplace was set by the  owner, Alvin Hallst  The owner decided he wanted a small company, Tri State School for Drivers.  Everyone there called it TSSD  He had only 9 driving instructors in a tri-state area that included Indiana, Wisconsin & Illinois.  He was originally a lawyer who did remarkably well as a patent attorney.  No one at Dan's workplace from the second in command to the lowliest gofer could figure out why Alvin left his law firm after successfully practicing law for 30 years.   Left it he did.  He had peculiar ways.  He loved and lusted over secrecy.  The more intrigue and what he considered "healthy gossip," the happier he seemed.  He had a biting sense of humor, and most of all he wanted to keep employees alert and ready to answer questions.   Dan accidentally heard the big secret 3 months after being hired. ...
INTRO First of all, I am a person who loves the underdog.  The ones that have a hard time.  My little group/cadre found plenty of them and we help adult wannabe drivers who had/have a hard time getting their driver's license.  At Tri State School for Drivers, I found out our boss had  insider information at a few Sec. of State offices......the places that issue/deny licenses.  In this case, we found out names of people who were denied drivers' licenses. There's a few of us who operate out of NWIndiana, SE Wisconsin and NE Illinois (we don't do Milwaukee and Chicago....there's plenty of business elsewhere) There's been some wild stuff happening with these drivers.  There's wild stuff happening to the four other instructors that form the cadre.  I work in Illinois.   I will be sharing those wild stories with you!  I WILL Share how we got the insider information. You have all these stories to look forward to!  THESE EVENTS A...

no confession to start-2011 Big Changes, A WATERSHED YEAR!

Image
During the very mean year of 2011, I was in a very panicky financial situation.  I was diagnosed with cancer.  I loved working at the good and steady At a downtown law firm in Chicago on Madison St.  But no firm is perfect, and I was underpaid for what a senior personal injury paralegal should be making.  My boss would later explain in a very accurate way  about how the personal injury law business was going through very thorough changes in how business was down post-recession of 2008-09.    I had a terrible time making ends meet.  I had cancer.  I had a declining car.  I was spending over $1,000 to keep the wheels spinning on it.  My ex-wife left the condo I lived with her in since 1994.  She had the opportunity to live in her father's house as he had just died,  and understandably took it.  Yet, we certainly weren't husband and wife material especially for other health reasons.     ...
